The Marathon Continues: The Neighborhood Vol. 1
In 2019, I was living in Los Angeles when Nipsey Hussle passed away. What I witnessed wasn’t what the media portrayed. I saw a community grieving together. I saw love on every corner, murals rising overnight, candles burning through the dark, and The neighborhood holding each other up. I felt the pride, the pain, and the unity that cameras from the outside couldn’t fully capture.
This project was born from that perspective. through the eyes of the people who actually lived it. I didn’t want to document headlines. I wanted to document heart. Every image in this book reflects the LOVE and collective strength that defined the neighborhood during that time.
I LOST my big brother, Floyd Roger Myers Jr. on October 29, 2025. HE IS WHO INTRODUCED ME TO NIPS MUSIC. THIS shifted EVERYTHING for me. His passing pushed me TO finally pursue the dream that had been placed on my heart. Nipsey’s message of COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ownership inspired me, but grief made it personal. tomorrow isn’t promised.
This book is more than a tribute. It is my love letter to community, to legacy, to my brother, and to the courage it takes to turn pain into purpose.
